Dreamlike PhotoRenaissance florals — where flowers become poetry
Shortly after World War II, I came into a world of old-growth forests, rolling green hills, and quiet wonder. That early connection to nature, light, and atmosphere has remained with me throughout my life. Self-taught, I was deeply influenced by the Old Master painters and their understanding of composition, light, shadow, and symbolism. This classical sensibility continues to shape my photographic work today. I describe this approach as PhotoRenaissance — a fusion of painterly atmosphere and contemporary photography. My botanical works explore fragile, ethereal moments suspended between stillness and transformation. Through carefully controlled light and in-camera techniques, each image becomes a contemplative study of form, mood, and emotional presence. Every work is produced to museum archival standards using fine art materials designed for exceptional longevity.
“I create floral fine art, which are quiet encounters with a subtle pause — an ethereal moment when a flower becomes more than itself. When light and shadow, color and form speak of fragility, renewal, in a gentle softness.
Each image is a translation of a silent conversation between the flower and our inner self that seeks comfort. These images invite the viewer to linger, to breathe, and to find a small moment of peace in a hurried world.”
The Process
I draw inspiration from the quiet poetry hidden within flowers and the natural world. Guided by a lifelong love of the Old Masters and symbolic storytelling, I coined the term PhotoRenaissance — a way of creating art through the camera that blends classical beauty with contemporary vision.
Each piece emerges intuitively, like a gentle visual poem that gives voice to emotions ordinary words cannot reach.
